Funemployment Part 2

Week 2 Update
It's still funemployment.  I have barely thought about work to this point, but eventually I'm going to have to do my orientation tour, which is probably the only thing left at this point to do. And yes, i will be doing that last minute.

Nothing much has happened since Thursday.   Friday, I went shopping for new clothes... and kicks, you and me taking flicks....
Sorry, just new clothes.
Then cleaned up the house a little because Saturday, my roommate came back from korea!
She had gone for a month, and had not failed in updating us about all the good food she had been eating.
Being the caring roommate that she is, she bought me a selfie taking stick.
I plan on being a selfie master by the end of this week.

It is now Monday.
The week is young, i hope that i will continue to be productive.
The goal is to leave the house by 8 at the latest every day.

I must comment on my Hokies.
We are not that good right now.
The worst and best thing to happen to this season was beating Ohio State.
It was the worst because it gave us unrealistic expectations for this season.
It was the best because it showed the potential we have.  5 impact freshmen playing heavy minutes and carrying the team.  I know we always say this, but..... next year we are going to rock out.
I believe.
The next 3 years are going to be fun!

Funemployment

I recently left my job and former life in accounting to pursue a whole different vocational field.  I don't really know how to describe what i'll be doing, but i'll be doing it with a smile on my face.  Accounting is probably the saddest profession in the corporate world.  When you're in between someone and their money, stupidity always wins.

The two weeks that I have between my old job and my new job is hopefully going to be spent productively.  I can only hope that this time, it won't be spent watching 6 straight hours of netflix. That's what Saturdays are for!

It's Thursday, and to this point i've spent my days pretty productively.
Monday- Had lunch with some buddies in DC, fried chicken and donuts to be exact.  We then took a tour of DC and ended up getting dessert at Blue Duck Tavern.  Got the apple pie with 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream.  Mmmm.  Until we found a hair in the pie.  That sucked, but we had already finished about 95% of the pie and all of the ice cream so we had no remorse.

Tuesday-Practiced the commute to work.  It will take me about 45 minutes to get to work. Tight life. Went to the gym to shoot around and then spent the rest of the day watching Suits.

Wednesday- Went coffee shop hunting and settled on Peets.  It was ok... nothing special.  I then met up my pastor for a quick chat and then had lunch with my sister and nephew.  We then got ice cream and I got myself a pedicure/manicure.  The lady reluctantly asked if i was celebrating a birthday or something to which i replied, "no, just a day off," to which she laughed and kept on buffing my nails. I'm not gonna lie, it was an interesting feeling being pampered like that.

And now we come to today.  Found another coffee shop near home (29th Parallel Coffee and Tea)
My thoughts: Not bad, pretty quiet, decent coffee and pastries.  Easy to lounge and not realize you've been here for about 2 hours.

The hardest part about funemployment is trying to be efficient with the free time.
The last time I was unemployed, it was easy to do nothing because I didn't have any money to do anything.
The tables have turned and now i have a little spending money, making it easier to justify making moves.  My issue is now, don't gain 20 pounds.

The key is to find balance between doing nothing and doing something.  I've been trying to get out of the house so I don't end up doing nothing at home, but instead, doing nothing at 29th Parallel.  So there's that.

I had one task while at this shop: Read the Bible.
And here i am: blogging.
Something I haven't done in more than a year.
Tight ... Guy....

I'm excited to see what the next week and a half is going to look like.  Hopefully there's something worth sharing with the world.  But if not, know that this vacation was not wasted, just not worth sharing... haha.

Wish me luck.
